Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re not sure whether my services are right for you, contact me for a free consultation. Or simply book an appointment with me at contact@philoconsultant.com

During the first appointment, I will ask you about your life, interests, and goals. We will then figure out what problems brought you to seek philosophical consultation services. Subsequent sessions will focus on your problems, with the aim of clarifying them, assessing your thinking, collaborating on possible solutions, and developing an effective plan that is consistent with your own personal beliefs, whether secular, religious, spiritual, etc.

All of my clients have access to several online resources to assist them with every step of the consultation process.

Each session lasts one hour. I recommend starting with three sessions (one per week) to give us enough time to get comfortable with each other, familiarize you with the process, and clarify the issue you wish to address. We will then determine how many more sessions might be needed in order for you to effectively implement the changes on your own that we discuss in our sessions.

All sessions happen on Zoom. I will send you a link to my Zoom room in an email after you schedule an appointment. I recommend finding a quiet and private place where you can speak freely and with minimal interruptions. Before each session, make sure your camera and microphone works

A one-hour session costs between $50 and $150, depending on your household income. To calculate your rate, take your household income (the combined income of those with whom you reside), and multiply it by .1%. For example, a household income of $65K a year, multiplied by .001, is an hourly rate of $65.

The ‘Certified LBT Consultant’ designation refers to a professional in the field of philosophy with at least a M.A. with a certificate issued by The National Philosophical Counseling Association (NPCA).

Although my approach to consulting is not limited to LBT, LBT is a treatment modality that is based on a formal method that helps clients identify faulty beliefs that result in emotional dysregulation and behavioral problems, and also helps clients identify and implement personalized solutions to these problems. LBT is an offspring of Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy that was developed by psychologist Albert Ellis in the 1950s. LBT is one of many personalized treatment modalities. While one modality might not be effective for some people, receiving more than one type of treatment tends to increase the likelihood of effectiveness.

If the client needs to cancel a scheduled session, at least 24 hours notice is required. In cases where such notice is provided, the canceled session will be rescheduled as soon as possible. If the client fails to show up for the session without notice for any reason, the missed session cannot be made up and is forfeited.
